Vesten for Humlen is a slender green park woven through the heart of Copenhagen's Carlsberg City District, the reborn quarter built on the grounds of the historic Carlsberg brewery. Completed in 2018 alongside the neighbourhood's new residences, this car-free ribbon of greenery runs along Ny Carlsberg Vej, threading between the modern apartment blocks of Scherfig Hus and Købke Hus and the charming nineteenth-century terraced houses of Humleby. Its name — meaning West of the Hops — nods playfully to Carlsberg's brewing heritage and to a beloved Danish idiom about places at the edge of the known world. Though modest in scale, the park is a genuine urban oasis. A soft path winds beneath young trees and through planted borders, inviting residents and visitors alike to begin a morning run, walk the dog, or simply pause on a bench with a coffee from one of the district's cafés. Because it is entirely closed to traffic, children can roam and play in safety. In the southern corner you'll find a playground complete with a sandbox, while the stretch between Scherfig Hus and Humleby opens into space for games and a pétanque court where neighbours gather on warm evenings. Vesten for Humlen also works as a green connector. From here it is only a short stroll to Thorvald Bindesbølls Plads, the district's northernmost square, with room for ball games and play, or onward to Købkes Plads, where café life spills onto an amphitheatre-style set of steps that hosts events through the year.
