Rø

Rø is a tranquil village tucked into the wooded interior of northern Bornholm, Denmark's sun-washed Baltic island. Small and unhurried, it makes an ideal base for exploring the surrounding countryside, where rolling farmland gives way to the dark pines of Rø Plantage, one of the island's most beloved forests threaded with walking and cycling trails. A short journey north brings you to Helligdomsklipperne, the dramatic granite Sanctuary Cliffs plunging into the sea, and to Bornholms Kunstmuseum, whose galleries frame the coast through vast windows. Golfers head for the nearby Rø course, laid out amid gentle hills. Though quiet, the village offers a genuine taste of rural Bornholmian life, with local farm shops and the scent of woodsmoke and salt air. From Rø, the island's smokehouses, sandy beaches and round churches all lie within easy reach.
