Marielyst

Marielyst is Denmark's most popular seaside resort, set on the east coast of Falster island facing the Baltic Sea. It is famous for its broad, white sandy beach, which stretches for kilometres and has repeatedly been voted among the country's finest. Behind the dunes and a lush coastal forest lies a sea of holiday cottages that fill each summer with visitors from Denmark and abroad. The main street buzzes in high season with ice-cream stalls, restaurants, cafés and small shops, while Marielyst Torv square forms the heart of the town. Swimming, mini-golf, cycling routes and long walks by the water are all on offer, and the shallow, child-friendly waves make the beach ideal for families. Out of season the coast takes on a quiet, raw beauty of wind and wide horizons. Marielyst blends relaxed holiday-village charm with scenic nature and easy access to southern Falster.
