Idestrup lies in the southeastern corner of the Danish island of Falster, just a few kilometres from the Baltic coast and south of Nykøbing Falster. The village is set amid the flat, fertile farmland that characterises the whole island, with wide horizons and tidy farmsteads. At its heart stands Idestrup Church, a substantial medieval brick building whose tower is visible far across the fields. The surrounding countryside invites unhurried cycling and driving along small lanes between hedgerows and copses, and it is only a short trip to the beaches at Marielyst to the east, among the most popular in Denmark.
