Lemvig lies beautifully cradled among rolling hills at the head of Lemvig Bay, an arm of the Limfjord in northwest Jutland. This old market town has kept its cosy character, with cobbled streets, colourful gabled houses and a lively harbour where yachts and fishing boats rest side by side. It is best known for the Planet Path, a walking trail along the fjord that reproduces the solar system at scale. Sculptures by the artist Robert Jacobsen and a charming town museum reflect a rich cultural life. From the surrounding heights there are sweeping views over the water, and a few kilometres west you reach the wild dune coast of the North Sea at Bovbjerg, crowned by its distinctive lighthouse. Lemvig is a peaceful base for hiking, cycling and swimming, while its cafés and shops offer a genuine taste of west Jutland life, where nature and maritime tradition go hand in hand.
