Kramnitse is a small fishing hamlet on the southwest coast of Lolland, where the flat countryside meets the Baltic Sea behind a long coastal dike. The dikes were strengthened after the catastrophic storm surge of 1872 that flooded much of Lolland, and today they protect the low-lying landscape of fields, meadows and reed beds. At the little Kramnitse harbour, dinghies and leisure boats lie moored, while anglers cast for sea trout along the shore. The area is known for its calm, unspoiled nature: broad horizons, open skies and abundant birdlife make it a favourite for walkers, cyclists and nature lovers. The flat roads atop the dike invite unhurried outings, while the beach and shallow water are ideal for quiet bathing days. Kramnitse offers no grand attractions, but its very stillness, its light and its sweeping coastal scenery make it a genuine Lolland oasis.
