Holmstrup

Holmstrup is a small village on the island of Funen, just a few kilometres west of Odense amid a gently rolling agricultural landscape. Here the city's edge gives way to rich Funen soil, where fields, hedgerows and scattered farmsteads set the district's unhurried rhythm. The whitewashed parish church stands as a quiet focal point, ringed by old graves and gnarled trees, telling of centuries of local history. Holmstrup is above all a place to live and breathe out – close enough to Odense's museums, pedestrian streets and the world of Hans Christian Andersen to enjoy the city, yet far enough to hear the lark and feel the country air. Cycling and walking routes wind out into open country, where light and seasons shift across the swaying crops. For travellers seeking the genuine, unpretentious Funen, Holmstrup is a peaceful footnote on the road between the island's market towns.
