Hillerslev is a small village in Thy, in the north-west of Jutland, set east of Thisted amid rolling farmland close to the Limfjord. It lies in the heart of Thy, a region known for its windswept weather, wide-open fields and closeness to the North Sea and Thy National Park. The village landmark is Hillerslev Church, a whitewashed Romanesque church built of granite ashlars that has stood over the countryside for centuries. The area was historically shaped by limestone quarrying, and the chalk beneath the surface has left its mark on the landscape. Today Hillerslev is a quiet place where visitors can experience the real, undiluted Thy: silence, big skies and a strong sense of the region's history. From here it is a short hop to Thisted, the shores of the Limfjord and the dunes and heath of the national park.
