Billum

Billum

Billum is a small village in Varde Municipality in south-western Jutland, close to the flat marshlands of the Wadden Sea and the popular west coast. The village sits where broad meadows meet the dunes, serving as a quiet stop on the way to the holiday town of Blåvand and the Blåvandshuk lighthouse. The whitewashed Billum Church, with its distinctive tower, anchors the village and speaks to the region's long history. Around Billum stretches an open farming landscape of fields, shelterbelts and scattered farmsteads, where storks and wading birds are often seen. The area makes a fine base for cycling and walking in Wadden Sea National Park, part of the UNESCO World Heritage list. Here you feel the calm of West Jutland, the fresh sea air and the wide, luminous sky that has drawn artists and nature lovers for generations.
