Vindeby is a quiet coastal settlement on Lolland just outside Nakskov, where the edges of the village slip into the open landscape along Nakskov Fjord. The place made technological history in 1991, when the world's first offshore wind farm was raised in the shallow waters off the coast – a pioneering project that went on to inspire the wind industry worldwide. The turbines have since been removed, but the fjord keeps its calm, wind-swept character.
