Vemb is a small railway town in Holstebro Municipality in western Jutland, set beside the Storå river not far from the North Sea. The town grew up around the railway and remains an important junction, where the charming Lemvig Line branches off from the main route between Holstebro and Struer. A ride along the Lemvig Line carries you through open meadows, dunes and fjord scenery out to the coast. Just outside Vemb stands the listed manor of Nørre Vosborg, one of Denmark's best-preserved moated estates, with roots reaching back to the Middle Ages and today serving as a hotel and cultural venue amid its ramparts and old farm buildings. All around lies the flat, wind-swept West Jutland countryside of fields and heath, laced with fine cycling and walking routes. Vemb makes a quiet base for exploring the western coast, Thorsminde and the calm, authentic Denmark beyond the busy tourist trails.
