Valby is a small, easygoing settlement tucked into the gentle countryside of North Zealand, a short drive inland from the Øresund coast and the castle city of Helsingør. Far quieter than its famous Copenhagen namesake, this Valby rewards travellers who like their Denmark slow and unhurried. Narrow lanes wind past half-timbered farmhouses, tidy gardens and open fields that glow gold at harvest and green in spring. The surrounding landscape is classic Zealand: rolling farmland stitched together with hedgerows, patches of woodland and quiet country roads made for cycling. From here it is easy to reach the beaches of the Sound, the forests of the north and the region's grand manor houses and castles.
