Ullerup

Ullerup

Ullerup lies on the Sundeved peninsula in Southern Jutland, just a short distance from Sønderborg and the Als Sound. It is a classic South Jutland village, where the whitewashed Ullerup Church, with its medieval stonework, still forms the natural heart of the community. Around it spreads a gently rolling landscape of fields, hedgerows and small woodlands, perfect for cycling and walking along quiet gravel lanes. The region carries clear traces of the Danish-German border history, and nearby ramparts and memorials from the war of 1864 make it rewarding for the historically curious. From here it is easy to reach the coast, the island of Als, and Sønderborg with its castle, harbour promenade and cafés. Ullerup is not a bustling tourist town but a peaceful base for anyone wishing to experience authentic Southern Jutland at a slow pace, close to fjord, farmland and local culture.
