Tivoli Friheden is a charming amusement park set amid green surroundings in Aarhus, Denmark's second-largest city. Located about two kilometres south of the city centre, it is an easy and popular day out for families and thrill-seekers alike. The park is divided into several themed sections and offers more than 40 attractions, ranging from gentle rides for small children to faster roller coasters and spinning rides for older visitors. On warm days, the water section — Tivoli VanDvittig — adds splashy fun across an area of some 5,000 square metres. A firm favourite with locals, the park has welcomed well over 350,000 visitors in a single year and remains a beloved part of Aarhus life. For the most magical experience, it is worth timing a visit for the evening, when thousands of lights come on and the whole park takes on a warm, enchanting glow. Tivoli Friheden is open on a seasonal schedule, generally from late morning into the evening, with longer hours at weekends; an admission fee applies. You will find it at Skovbrynet 5, 8000 Aarhus C, on the edge of the Marselisborg forests, making it easy to combine with a walk in the woods or a visit to the city. More information is available at frfriheden.dk.
