Svindinge lies on the eastern side of the island of Funen in Nyborg Municipality, surrounded by rolling fields, hedgerows and quiet country lanes. At the heart of the village stands its whitewashed medieval church, whose tower can be seen far across the open landscape. Close by rises Glorup Manor, one of Funen's grand estates, set within a magnificent baroque and landscape park where avenues, canals and ancient trees invite unhurried walks. Hans Christian Andersen was once a guest at Glorup, and the manorial atmosphere of the region helped inspire his fairy tales. Svindinge itself is a classic Funen village of half-timbered houses, farmsteads and an unhurried pace far removed from city bustle. From here it is a short journey to Nyborg, the Great Belt and Funen's southern coast, making the village a fine base for cycling and driving tours through fertile countryside where history, nature and rural calm blend beautifully.
