Stubbekøbing sits on the northern coast of Falster beside the narrow Grønsund strait and is considered one of Denmark's oldest market towns. The town grew up around trade and seafaring, and the broad Store Kirkestræde along with the low old houses near the harbour still hold a calm, historic atmosphere. The large medieval Sankt Anna Church, with its whitewashed walls, crowns the town. From the harbour a small car ferry crosses the strait to the island of Bogø, a favourite route for cyclists touring between the islands. The town is also known for its Motorcycle and Radio Museum, where vintage motorcycles and old radios recall a more mechanical age. Around Stubbekøbing spreads a flat landscape of fields, beaches and low meadows, ideal for cycling and quiet days by the water. With its unpretentious character, the town makes a cosy stop away from the busier tourist trails.
