Store Torøje

Store Torøje is a small village in Faxe Municipality on south-eastern Zealand, close to Rønnede and the chalk town of Faxe. Here you find the classic landscape of southern Zealand: open fields, hedgerows, farmsteads and quiet gravel lanes winding between gentle hills. The village is tiny and largely residential, without major tourist sights, and that is precisely its charm — a calm stop for travellers seeking Danish rural idyll away from the busy routes. Its location makes an excellent base: the Faxe chalk quarry and the geology of UNESCO Geopark South Zealand and Møn lie nearby, along with the coast at Præstø Fjord and walks through the rolling countryside. A cycle or drive through the district rewards you with wide views, distant church towers and the deep stillness only Danish farmland offers. Store Torøje is a place to breathe deeply and feel the unhurried rhythm of country life.
