Stige Ø lies along the Odense Canal and Odense Fjord to the north of Odense and is one of Funen's most surprising natural areas. From the 1960s to the 1990s the peninsula served as the city's landfill, but it has since been transformed into a green recreational landscape whose hills rise unexpectedly above the otherwise flat Funen terrain.
