Stenbjerg is a small, tranquil former fishing hamlet on the west coast of Thy, ringed by dune heaths and swaying marram grass within Thy National Park. It is celebrated for its charming landing place, where rows of whitewashed fishermen's huts with red roofs and black rescue boats stand like a living open-air museum of coastal life. With no harbour, boats were once hauled straight onto the sand of the open North Sea. A short path crosses the dunes to a broad, unspoilt beach, perfect for long walks, hunting for amber and watching magnificent sunsets. Behind the village stretches Denmark's largest continuous heathland, laced with fine trails for walkers and cyclists.
