Sønder Onsild Stationsby is a small, unhurried settlement in Mariagerfjord municipality in eastern Jutland, a short drive south of the fjord town of Hobro. As its name suggests, the village grew up around the railway station on the main line between Randers and Aalborg, and the tracks still thread through the community today. Surrounded by gently rolling farmland, hedgerows and open Jutland sky, it offers a glimpse of everyday rural Denmark far from the tourist crowds. Nearby lies the older parish village of Sønder Onsild, with its whitewashed medieval church, while the Viking heritage of Hobro and the still waters of the Mariager Fjord are within easy reach.
