Sømarke is a tranquil hamlet tucked into the rolling countryside of eastern Møn, part of Vordingborg Municipality in southeastern Denmark. Surrounded by farmland, beech woods and hedgerows, it makes a quiet base for exploring one of the country's most scenic islands. Just outside the village stands the Sømarke Dolmen (Sømarkedyssen), a Neolithic burial monument whose massive capstone is decorated with prehistoric cup marks — a reminder that people have lived here for thousands of years. The famous white chalk cliffs of Møns Klint rise a short drive to the east, while Møn's status as a Dark Sky Park makes the night skies exceptionally clear. With little more than scattered farmhouses and country lanes, Sømarke offers cycling, walking and a genuine taste of rural Danish island life, far from the crowds.
