Simested

Simested is a small village in Himmerland in northern Jutland, set picturesquely in the gently rolling countryside around the Simested Å river. The river is one of the region's most cherished waterways, drawing anglers who hope for sea trout and salmon in its clear, winding waters. Fields, meadows and shelter hedges spread out around the village, where only birdsong and the wind break the quiet. Simested has roots stretching far back in time, and its whitewashed church testifies to the area's long history. There is no noise or bustle here – just a genuine slice of Jutland country life, where neighbours know one another. The village makes a fine base for walking and cycling through Himmerland's peaceful nature, and its short distance to towns such as Aalestrup and Hobro makes it easy to pair rural calm with a little more activity. A restful place to breathe deeply.
