Sigerslev is a quiet rural hamlet in Stevns Municipality on the southeastern edge of Zealand, set among open farmland just inland from the Baltic coast. It lies close to Store Heddinge, the small market town at the heart of the Stevns peninsula, and only a short distance from the celebrated white cliffs of Stevns Klint, a UNESCO World Heritage Site prized for its remarkable geological record of the great mass extinction. The village itself is unassuming—a scatter of farms, hedgerows and low houses along country lanes—but it is defined by the vast chalk quarries nearby, where Denmark's soft white limestone has long been dug from the earth.
