Karise is an atmospheric railway town in Faxe Municipality on eastern Zealand, set amid the gently rolling farmland that defines this part of the island. Its landmark is the chalk-white medieval church, whose whitewashed walls and distinctive tower can be seen far across the surrounding fields. The town grew notably once the Østbanen railway arrived, and the line toward Køge and Rødvig still gives Karise a quiet, well-connected rhythm.
