Helsingør Cathedral

Helsingør Cathedral, also known as Saint Olaf's Church (Sankt Olai Kirke), is the cathedral church of Helsingør in the north of Zealand. Its history reaches back to around the year 1200, and the present Gothic building was completed in 1559, making it one of the most beautiful medieval churches in Denmark. In 1961 the church was elevated to cathedral status in connection with the establishment of the Diocese of Helsingør. Inside, visitors find the rich atmosphere of a centuries-old place of worship, with the soaring lines and fine craftsmanship typical of Danish Gothic architecture. The cathedral sits in the heart of Helsingør's historic old town, a short stroll from the harbour and the town's cobbled streets.
