Hee is a small village in West Jutland, a few kilometres north of the market town of Ringkøbing and not far from Ringkøbing Fjord and the sweeping dunes of the North Sea. Its landmark is Hee Church, an imposing Romanesque granite-ashlar building whose unusual size and tower have earned it a local reputation as the region's cathedral. All around lie flat, open farmlands where the sky feels endless and the wind off the sea is never distant. Hee is a quiet place shaped by agriculture and small communities, served by the railway line between Ringkøbing and Holstebro. For travellers it makes a fine base for experiencing authentic West Jutland: the birdlife of the fjord, the broad beaches at Søndervig and Hvide Sande, and the still, wind-swept country roads.
