Hadsund

Hadsund sits beautifully on the Mariager Fjord, often called Denmark's loveliest fjord, linking the Himmerland region with the Djursland peninsula via its distinctive bridge. Grown from a trading and ferry post, the town is today the lively shopping hub of Mariagerfjord Municipality, with cosy pedestrian streets, cafés and a busy harbour scene. Along the fjord, protected woodlands, salt meadows and abundant birdlife invite walking, cycling and kayaking. The panorama trail and the old salt mines in nearby Mariager tell of the area's history, while the fjord itself beckons for sailing and fishing. In summer the waterfront buzzes with restaurants and local markets. Hadsund makes a calm, authentic base for exploring northern Jutland's fjord country, where water, forest and small villages meet at an unhurried pace, far from the bustle of the big city.
