Gummerup

Gummerup is a small village on West Funen in Assens Municipality, just a few kilometres from the railway town of Glamsbjerg. Here you meet the quiet, fertile Funen farmland, where red-brick farmsteads and willow hedgerows follow one another along winding field lanes. The village is best known for Vestfyns Hjemstavnsgård, an old four-winged farm museum that tells the story of the region's rural culture, traditional crafts and everyday life through the ages. Around Gummerup the open landscape invites calm cycling and walking routes between grain fields, shelterbelts and small stands of woodland, all under the wide Funen sky. There are no grand attractions or crowds here – and that is precisely the charm. Gummerup makes a rewarding detour for travellers who want to experience the real, down-to-earth Funen, combining a visit with Glamsbjerg and the surrounding parishes and feeling the unhurried rhythm of the countryside a short hop from Assens and the South Funen coast.
