Gullestrup

Gullestrup lies on the northern edge of Herning, in the heart of Jutland, where quiet residential streets give way to open heath, plantation and farmland. Once a small rural settlement, it has grown into a peaceful community that keeps a foothold in the surrounding countryside. Its landmark is Gullestrup Church, a striking modernist building of red brick whose bold, sculptural lines reward a closer look. Walkers and cyclists set out from here into pine plantations and gently rolling fields, following paths that trace the old landscape of central Denmark. Herning itself is only a short trip away, bringing museums, the HEART art centre and Birk Centerpark within easy reach, while Gullestrup offers a calmer base. For visitors, it is a glimpse of everyday Danish life away from the crowds — unhurried, green and quietly welcoming in every season.
