Galten

Galten is a comfortable town in the rolling hills of East Jutland, in Skanderborg Municipality, just twenty kilometres west of Aarhus. Together with the neighbouring town of Skovby it forms a merged urban area that has grown from a village and railway settlement into a thriving commuter community. Here you sense the calm rhythm of everyday Jutland life: leafy residential streets, local shops along the main road, schools, sports halls and an active club scene. Its central position between Aarhus, Silkeborg and Skanderborg makes Galten a handy base for exploring the region. All around, the gently undulating countryside spreads out in fields, small woods and farm tracks that invite walking and cycling. There are no major tourist attractions, but that is precisely why Galten offers a genuine glimpse of how many Danish families live in the provinces – close to the city, yet with space, greenery and a relaxed, unhurried atmosphere.
