Frejlev is a tranquil village on the southern coast of Lolland, set among fields and woodland near the Baltic shore. Its greatest treasure is Frejlev Skov, a coastal forest holding one of Denmark's richest concentrations of prehistoric monuments – dozens of dolmens, passage graves and burial mounds left by Stone and Bronze Age communities more than four thousand years ago. Marked paths wind between the moss-covered stones, past ancient oaks and beeches, before opening onto quiet pebble beaches with views across the water toward Nysted. The surrounding countryside is classic Lolland: flat, fertile and gently timeless, dotted with thatched farmhouses and grazing meadows. Frejlev rewards slow travellers who come to walk, cycle and listen to birdsong. It is a place where deep history and unhurried rural calm meet at the edge of the sea.
