Framlev is a small village in the rolling countryside of East Jutland, west of Aarhus and today part of Aarhus Municipality, close to Harlev. It sits among gently undulating fields and shelterbelts, where open farmland meets the city's outer suburbs, keeping a quiet, rural atmosphere despite its nearness to the big city. Framlev Kirke, a whitewashed village church with medieval roots, is the settlement's clearest landmark and speaks to the area's long history. The name is also familiar from the old Framlev Herred, a hundred that once gathered the surrounding parishes. There are no tourist attractions in the conventional sense here, but rather a glimpse of Jutland's farming heartland: farmsteads, gravel lanes and the weathered stones of the churchyard. Travellers passing through on the way to Aarhus or Silkeborg can pull over to enjoy the calm, the wide sky and the peaceful surroundings the place still offers.
