Dyreborg is a small fishing hamlet at the tip of the Horne Land peninsula, southwest of Faaborg on southern Funen. It faces the South Funen Archipelago, where shallow sounds, low islets and green shores form one of Denmark's loveliest sailing grounds. In summer the little harbour fills with pleasure yachts and small boats, and from the mole the view sweeps across the water toward the islands of Bjørnø, Avernakø and Lyø. Behind the harbour, cosy houses—many with thatched roofs—line winding lanes, framed by fields, coastal meadows and hedgerows running down to the beach. Dyreborg is a peaceful place where the pace is slow and nature close at hand. From here you can walk the coast, swim from the beaches or set out into the archipelago. The area invites restful days of fresh sea air, birdlife and the atmosphere of old maritime Funen that still lingers in the village.
