Dollerup

Dollerup

Dollerup is a small village in central Jutland, beautifully set southwest of Viborg on the shore of Hald Lake. It is best known for the Dollerup Hills, one of Denmark's most striking Ice Age landscapes, with steep, rolling ridges, heather-clad slopes and sweeping views over the water and surrounding woodland. The area is a favourite starting point for walks, and marked trails wind through the hills, past the historic Dollerup watermill and down to the lakeside. Hald Lake itself invites fishing, kayaking and gentle strolls along the bank, while the nearby manor of Hald Hovedgård tells the story of the region's long past. In autumn the heather turns purple and the hills become a photogenic draw for locals and visitors alike. With its blend of grand scenery, quiet and proximity to Viborg, Dollerup is an ideal stop for anyone seeking fresh air and Danish natural gems away from the busy tourist trail.
