Brandsbøl

Brandsbøl is a small village in the northern part of the island of Als, in Sønderborg Municipality in Southern Denmark. It sits amid gently rolling farmland near Nordborg, where fields, hedgerows and scattered farmsteads shape the landscape a short way inland from the coast. The area has a calm, traditional South Jutland feel, far from the pace of the towns, and lends itself to cycling and walking along the quiet lanes. From Brandsbøl it is a short trip to Nordborg, with its shops, the historic Nordborg Castle and the tranquil Nordborg Lake, as well as beaches and woodland along the shore. The region carries the mixed heritage of the Danish-German border country, still felt in place names and buildings. Travellers seeking stillness, open horizons and an authentic glimpse of rural life on Als will find Brandsbøl a pleasant base for exploring the island's northern reaches and its scenic surroundings.
