Bøtterup

Bøtterup is a small rural hamlet in North Zealand, set in the quiet farmland of Helsingør Municipality a short way inland from the Øresund coast. There is little more here than a scattering of farmhouses and country roads winding between hedgerows, fields and pockets of woodland — the kind of unhurried Danish countryside that rewards travellers who like to wander off the main routes. Its position is its greatest asset: the beaches and harbour town of Hornbæk, the great forests of Teglstrup Hegn and Hellebæk, and the castle city of Helsingør with UNESCO-listed Kronborg all lie within easy reach. Spring and summer bring bright green fields and long, light-filled evenings, while autumn turns the surrounding woods to gold. Bøtterup offers no attractions of its own, but makes a peaceful base for exploring one of Denmark's loveliest coastal corners.
