Borre is a quiet village on the eastern side of the island of Møn, today part of Vordingborg Municipality. Its landmark is the whitewashed medieval church, Borre Kirke, whose oldest parts date back to the 13th century and rise over the open countryside. In the Middle Ages Borre was a small market town, but its trade faded and the place settled into life as a peaceful rural community. Close by lies Borre Sømose, a former coastal lagoon that is now a tranquil wetland of reed beds and rich birdlife, drawing walkers and nature lovers. Borre makes a good base for exploring eastern Møn: the dramatic chalk cliffs of Møns Klint, ancient passage graves and gently rolling fields all lie within a short distance. With winding lanes, old farmsteads and views toward the Baltic Sea, the village captures a calm, timeless side of Danish island life.
