Bakkebølle is a small coastal hamlet in southern Zealand, a few kilometres south of Vordingborg. The scattered settlement sits along the Storstrøm, the broad strait that separates Zealand from Falster and the islet of Masnedø, and is made up mostly of summer houses, farms and lone homesteads set among fields and coastal meadows. At Bakkebølle Strand the shallow shore invites bathing, stone-hunting and long views toward the bridges and islands to the south. The area is calm and rural, shaped by open farmland, hedgerows and the constant sound of water and wind. In summer the shore road fills with holidaymakers, while the rest of the year belongs to locals and the birds migrating along the coast. Bakkebølle makes a fine base for cycling and walking, and medieval Vordingborg with its Goose Tower lies close by for those who want to pair nature with a little history.
