Åle is a small village in Hedensted Municipality in East Jutland, southwest of Horsens and close to Tørring. Around it stretches the quiet, gently rolling Jutland farmland, where fields, hedgerows and scattered farmsteads shape the horizon. The heart of the village is Åle Kirke, a whitewashed medieval church whose tower is visible from afar and speaks of the area's long history. Åle lies near the upper reaches of the Gudenå, Denmark's longest river, and near Tørring, where many canoeists put in to paddle north through some of the country's loveliest river scenery. The surroundings invite unhurried cycling and walking along small lanes and gravel tracks between meadows and woodland edges. There is no tourist bustle here, only rural calm, birdsong and a genuine sense of the Jutland interior.
